The Radiators-31 Years & Still Going Strong
There are very few things you can count on these days, but one thing is for sure, legendary New Orleans rockers The Radiators (still consisting of the same 5 original members) will be on the road playing to packed houses night after night just like they have for the past 31 years. Playing venues ranging from intimate clubs to large festivals The Rads have built up a dedicated fan base known as “fish heads” who turn out to hear the group’s marathon sets which feature new material, old favorites and eclectic cover versions. It’s a different show every night which is one of the reasons that “fish heads” have been known to follow the band from town to town.
Following their annual closing set at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival the band will embark on an East Coast tour that will begin on May 21st in Fall River, MA and continue until May 31st with the closing set at Michael Arnone’s Crawfish Fest in Augusta NJ.
The Rads are also scheduled to play two diverse festivals in early June. They’ll do 2 shows at the Allman Bros. Wanee Festival in Live Oak, FL on June 4th &5th and they will also do a set at the Alexander City, AL Jazz Fest on June 12th.
In addition the band is putting the finishing touches on a “new” CD actually recorded in the early 90’s titled The Lost Southlake Sessions. These recordings were unearthed when the band was going through their archives in preparation for last years’ 30th Anniversary Compilation, Wild & Free. The band felt so strong about these sessions that they’ve decided to release them to the general public. It features 6 songs that have never been officially released in any form by the band. The CD will be available beginning in late April at Jazzfest, the band’s shows and from www.theradiators.org. It will also be available at retail at the end of May.
